bloodmoon

bloodmoon is my calarts graduation thesis show. bloodmoon is a collaboration between me, my best friends, many spirits, elements, dreams, foresights, and grief. This instillation held eight 12x4ft continues linen paintings, a central floor painting that provided a space for people to sit with each other and interact with sculptures, dream journals, and different forms of divination tools, and a 14 minute film accompanied by a song I produced. The show functioned as a space to process deep levels of grief and provided a place for reflection and alleviation.

artist statement:

Ever since I was little I've been able to hear and touch the whispers of spirits. This work is co creation with a few physical beings i know and many non physicals. It is a place to be molecular. To touch and taste and sing and dance. It is a place to be undeniable  yourself. The symbols created represent cycles. Cycles of time, Cycles of emotion, Cycles of the body, Cycles of alchemy. Voices and memories and motions that alleviate the soul. It is a call for us all to be together. Birth. Love. Obliteration. Silence. The symbols created are inspired deep intuitive processes that initiate a safe passage through oppressive psychic systems . They are channeled actions, frequencies, and movements that suggest a path towards the reclamation  and preservation of the loving power of nature, community, and divinity.  They are presence, deep breaths, poems, sleep, rapid rivers, fresh air, blueberry pies, fire, justice, cells, kindness and radical gratitude. They are childhood. Ingrained in each symbol and throughout the tapestries is a channeled language that holds information from the spirit and galactic world, bringing courage, action, tranquility, healing, and love. An alter lives at the back of the room holding collected treasures from my life at the beach with my family; rocks, shells, and sea glass from the last 22 years. It holds crystals and magical tools that I have been gifted or found throughout my travels. Each object holding a memory and stamp of time. This space is an accumulation of my love.
